Edinburgh Southside Choir
People
Seonaid Lynn has been leading the Edinburgh Southside Choir since its inception in 2010 having previously worked extensively with children’s choirs during her teaching career. Her professional development in choral conducting and teaching was undertaken with the CME Institute for Choral Teacher Education. She enjoys selecting an interesting and varied repertoire of music for the choir. Seonaid learned piano and violin from an early age. She plays fiddle for Scottish Country Dancing and also composes. A number of her compositions have been included in RSCDS publications. Moving to the Scottish Borders for work, Seonaid's musical interests focussed on singing. She performed regularly at Folk Clubs and events throughout Scotland and her love of singing continues. She currently sings with and is the creative director of a trio which combines words and music to present themed programmes in venues throughout the Borders.

Our accompanist Donald Thomson has been a successful freelance musician, music editor and published composer since graduating from RSAMD. He also teaches at Lamp House Music in Haddington and has had one of his compositions, Haggis Hunt, included in the 2025-6 Associated Board Grade 2 exam syllabus. Donald has accompanied the choir for nine years and often performs at our concerts as a soloist and as part of a piano duet.
